Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions from our patients

What type of braces do you offer?

Currently, we have all the orthodontic systems you choose depending on your needs:

  • Conventional metal braces.
  • Sapphire braces (aesthetic).
  • Self-ligating brackets.
  • Lingual braces (placed behind the tooth).
  • Transparent guards to align the teeth (Invisalign).
Is everyone a candidate for braces?

Not all people are candidates. A prior evaluation is necessary to evaluate your oral health conditions. It's important to have healthy gums and teeth before starting any treatment.

Can aligners be used for complex cases?

Yes, currently we can treat almost any case using aligners. Depending on the case, auxiliary devices such as ortho-implants may be needed.

How long does brace treatment take?

Time is relative, as multiple factors come into play such as age, treatment complexity, type of braces or treatment chosen. However, a general timeframe is typically around 2 years.

Is it possible to get a dental cleaning service while I am using braces?

Yes, we actually recommend it because braces tend to accumulate tartar (dental calculus) and dentobacterial plaque that damages your teeth.

At what age can my child start using braces?

Determining the appropriate age involves evaluating the roots of the teeth and other critical structures through auxiliary elements like x-rays, photos, and models. This assessment helps decide whether braces should be placed or if interceptive treatment with an orthopedic plate is necessary, potentially saving time in the long run.

Why is it important to take my child to an orthodontist from an early age?

The orthodontist can intervene early on multiple habits or bite tendencies, effectively guiding both bone and dental growth trajectories.

From what age can my child get braces?
  • Digital suction (thumb suction).
  • Lower lip suction.
  • Oral breathing.
